It was alright, I mean its a trilogy so you know its not going to be as good as the first two unless its Indiana Jones of course, but still cute, still funny etc.

It was good. I really liked the concept of time as currency and showing how precious it was. And Alex Pettyfer with Matt Bomer… yum. I have to say though I know it was supposed to be about Justin Timblerlake and all but Cillian Murphy STOLE THE SHOW. Man that guy is amazing, I almost cried when… oh no wait I wont spoil it for you.

I admit when I started watching this my reaction was not good. This film was reccomended by the same friend who says Predator is one of his favourite movies so he has been known to dissapoint me. It took a while to get used to the camera-work and format. However about halfway in, after all the horrific raping and silly suits, it was actually quite good. I loved the narration it reminded me a lot of Kind Hearts and Coronets (which FYI is beyond amazing) as did the sick humour and basically a lot of the rest of the film. So yeah be patient through the first half, its worth it.

Well it wasn’t as good as the first one although why do the characters I like always end up as the killers?! I kind of guessed Mickey from the start but thought it would be to obvious… apparently Scream 2 likes obvious, not sure if it was meant to be ironic or not.

Actually quite a good film, not mind-blowingly amazing but I wouldn’t protest if someone wanted me to watch it again with them or something. Tom Felton and his American accent was funny! Good but funny… and I still feel really weird watching James Franco when he has serious roles. The CGI apes were okay but not as realistic as excepted. Also, how did 40 or so apes suddenly turn into about 100?

Jesus, had this director never heard of music? This film had so much potential, a really good storyline but everything else (location, cinematography, acting, mise en scene, lighting etc) let it down. The shots were too long there was way too much silence and the scenes did not flow. I know its not a big budget film but come on! And don’t even get me started on the script! Shoddy penmanship indeed.

Reading the plot this should have been an awfully boring film. But it wasn’t, not even with Pierce Brosnan and that slutty one from Sex and The City in it. Polinski and McGreggor sure do know how to turn a shitty story into a good film. The storyline may have been a bit confusing for some people but if you did understand it the end will be very dramatic for you.

Why did I watch this instead of doing my English coursework or revision for my theory test? I have just wasted 2 hours of my life that I’ll never get back. I have no clue what happened in this film and am going to have to waste another 10 minutes in finding out what on earth I was watching on wikpedia.

365 Movie Challenge | 33 | Grizzly Man
I’ve been watching this in film class, its a documentary about a man who lived with bears. Personally I think Treadwell is a little eccentric and crazy, I don’t blame him for wanting to live amongst bears, however I do agree to some extent that he shouldn’t have done it and its endangering the animals to domesticate them. The film shows footage of Treadwell filming himself and talking about the bears and how they are harmless which is actually pretty funny in a sadistic way as we are told repeatedly throughout the film of Treadwell getting eaten by a bear. In addition to this bizarre man we have the director of the documentary Werner Herzog who is a remarkably crazy man himself. Our film teacher has told us many stories about him, about how he walked from Munich to Paris on foot to visit a dying friend, eating his own shoe after loosing a bet, threatening one of his actors with a rifle (and being serious about it), randomly saving Joaquin Phoenix by pulling him out of a car wreck and then continuing walking down the street as though it was purely normal, although for a guy who gets shot by air rifles during an interview, then calmly carries on, claiming the bullet ‘isn’t a significant one’ it probably was. It’s pretty much worth watching just for Herzog’s voiceover with his funny accent.

365 Movie Challenge | 32 | Black Hawk Down
I have never seen so many British and non-american actors in one film that have to speak with an American accent. The film’s advertising focuses on Josh Harnett and Ewan McGreggor as the ‘stars’ of the film but theres no protagonist really and its pretty much an all star cast. Orlando Bloom, Hugh Dancy, Tom Hardy, Ioan Grufford, Nikolaj Coster, Eric Bana, Jason Isaacs, William Fichtner… need I go on? Although I was dissapointed  that most of these super-hot actors had the classic, 1-2-1 army haircut, it also made it impossible to tell them apart especially when their faces were covered in dirt, I wasn’t sure who was dying or wounded. The film just confirms my belief that the American government and their army are full of shit and have no clue what they are doing, but the characters themselves and their determination to protect one-another was endearing. Overall from a cinematic point of view it is a beautifully well-made movie with good acting (probably due to the mostly British actors and director).

Why has it taken me so long to watch this? It is beautiful. The acting, the story the singing. I mean the comedy is a bit slapstick but as its a musical it works. I love the ‘modern’ songs that are intertwined in there and its just beautiful and god I need a tissue.

Oh god, I forgot how great this film was. I don’t know why its taken me years to re-watch it… It’s your simple; girl likes guy and guy likes girl but the guy the girl likes just to happens to like the guy who likes the girl. As I said, simple. But in all seriousness, this film is really progressive for its time (1994) in America especially around the subject of sexuality. Its realistic in its portrayal of relationships and unrequited love. In fact had it not been for the location, the actors and the over-use of the word ‘fag’ I would have sworn it was European!

So after Sophie started singing part of your world in english this morning it proceeded to be stuck in my head for most of the day, so when I was humming the tune whilst browsing a charity shop and stumbled across the VCR for only 20p I thought what the hell, its a classic. Of course it took me half an hour to plug my VCR into my TV and the picture was shit but that just brought my childhood back even more. And other than the bad messages this film send to kids that falling in love and getting married in less than a week is a good idea who doesn’t love TLM?

Pretty much your typical group of old guy friends unsatisfied in life re-unite party hard and come to epiphanies about how their lives should be. This isn’t a criticism, theres nothing wrong with a predictable story. Most films run on Todorov’s theory. It was funny to watch, although what is it with films and dad’s trying to have sex with their sons? I mean really? straight films are the gayest films ever. And how come the 3 main guys turn from 20 to 40 but the two new wives in the future look the same age… with the same actresses, sexist much? you know women grow old!
